Today started early with a prolife coach trip from Dublin city to Castlebar, in Co. Mayo, where Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Enda Kenny has his constituency office. It’s an important apostolate for the Irish prolife movement, and by 12:20, bus loads began pouring into Castlebar with an active prolife body swelling to a respectable figure. This was despite the inclement weather conditions & fresh breezes that is not uncommon in the West of Ireland around this time of year. The Gardai (Irish police) gave their estimate of 2,500 prolife supporters at the main point, and certainly when walking up the main street in Castlebar, it seemed as much. But in the mall area of the town (an open green square), too large for the event in hindsight, the scattering of the flock, made it difficult to get an accurate figure, which by then seemed perhaps 1,500. But even at that, the turn out of for this first ever Mayo prolife rally was a good result, and the crowds were in great form chanting prolife slogans, as well as the crowd rousing ogi ogi ogi chants alongside the Italian olé olé olé.
The Daylight breaks out
It was grey cloud cover for the most part, but the daylight broke through the clouds with a short spell of blue skies, and with this the daylight flyers on the upcoming “Evolution and the Culture of Death” seminars were at the ready to be handed out. These flyers were tailored for this prolife event, as the culture of death ties in with the current abortion debate in Ireland, and because one seminar is going live on radio, it means that anyone from any part of Ireland or the world can tune in. We’ll give details on this closer the time, but a hint is… that it is going to be aired within the next 10 days. Many pro-lifers are unaware of the anomalies with evolution, and simply take it as a given that the theory of evolution is a proven fact, so these publicized seminars will help redress this situation. The origins science debate is badly in need of discussing in Ireland from a Catholic creation view, as too many Christians in Ireland today see the Catholic creation story as a myth.

If you work for the Lord, or give your time when you don’t really have it, God usually restores all things to good order as payback. The Lord looks after his own, and yesterday & today, that is what it felt like for the Daylight Origins Society, with two new lads based in Co. Kildare, willing to plug the “Evolution and the Culture of Death” seminar events. So we gave them some quality printed flyers and they will gladly do some promotion. One of these lads is doing a course on economic geography, which is an unusual mixture of business economics and geographical factors. Also, the radio show is going ahead, and we may even have other necessities sorted, but we won’t publish them here and test faith. One interesting moment happened after the prolife rally in Castlebar today that made us realise, hey… that’s remarkable. A young lady walking 100 yards ahead dropped her mittens unnoticed, so retrieval followed her and it brought about a conversation. It turned out that this lady had already received a flyer at the prolife protest where abortion laws maybe flouted in Belfast by Mary Stopes, and has since looked at the Daylight Origins website. Additionally, we found out, she is a humble science physicist who had an open mind on the subject of origins science.
A prolife achievement
Bernadette Smith of Precious Life gave the final encouraging speech at the Castlebar prolife rally. She says although Mary Stopes now have an abortion clinic in Belfast, they cannot operate, until they can prove that they are acting within the law. A world 1st, an abortion mill that cannot kill… Olé!
